I met a reader. It was fantastic! I feel -

Galvanized! When I first started this whole 'I will publish a book' thing, my hope was to share it with people who felt passionately about the story. And I met one of those people today - an awesome, intelligent person who has many very creative ideas and characters of his/her very own. We got along very well! We might even do a little art-character collab - how great is that? I'm hoping he/she (oh, yes, secrecy!) will see this little shoutout to her/him. Heheh. You know who

I just didn't want to touch it.

Do you ever set out to accomplish something, and you even do, but it just somehow disappoints you? That was me. When I released my first novel in June, I feel the empirical evidence showed a pretty positive picture. Lots of people showed up to support my launches, and I even sold books to a fair number of strangers. But I didn't want to touch it. Or look at it. Or think about it - for months. BUT I'M BACK. Maybe it's just the time I needed to recover from my first massive art

Stretching the old artistic wings... graphic novel time.

Project Tower of the Deep takes shape. Tower of the Deep, written by Heidi Richardson, is a graphic novel adaptation of her novel of the same name, set in an early age Earth-world, albeit with flying people, like Arcmas here. Complete with many other peoples that roam a landscape largely based on real-life Canadian locations, Tower of the Deep is adventurous, family-centered, and full of flight and fight. It'll be a while yet, but I'll keep you updated :) It's always good to

Sequel draft at 30%, stories available on wattpad, and arting vids.

New planets, spaceships, hoverboards, changelings, aliens. Yep. It's been a busy writing month. 1. The sequel to THE MEDDLER is maybe 30% of the way through the first draft. Although right now, me and it are not friends. Darn it, book! Write yourself! 2. Meanwhile, I've finished a sci-fi short story, to take a breather. I'll be posting it soon as I whip up some story art (which I'm beginning now. Wish me speed and productivity!) I think I might video the art process and post

    Animated book teaser done!

Ahah! 2 months of furious drawing and colouring and I've finally conquered - THE TEASER. Because my characters are not the typical fare, I wanted to bring to you a wee taste of what they're like. After a couple quick tweaks, I'll upload the finished version. You can already watch the current version on the STORE page - watch it with decent sound quality :) This scenes in the teaser are all from the book, which you can read the first episode of for FREE, here or on my wattpad

    The art of 'arting' faster.

From a very young age, my list of want-to-be's went something like this: 1. Author 1. Film writer/director << tied for first 2. Traditional animator (then came Pixar, dream-ruiner) 3. Comic book artist I bailed pretty early on the animator and comic-book routes simply because, after attempting my own comics and animations, I realized how much work drawing full-time is. But here's the thing. I don't think I ever got over the hump. Turns out you do actually sp

    Animation WIP - just cuz

I've started an animation. I said to my sister 'I really want to animate something, but it takes so much work!' She said, 'do really something simple'. I took that great advice, and with enthusiasm, planned my simple animation, designed to be only a few seconds long. One thing, though. It's not simple. Apparently, I have an inability to Keep It Simple, Stupid. Apparently, I learned nothing from The Winter Wolf art I just finished. My life. But here's a great pic of several fr

    Winter Wolf artwork

My first true attempt at painted, detailed fur of any sort. I've never had the patience in the past. Must be a sign of maturity, right? This is accompanying visualization for The Winter Wolf, a short story of mine that will soon be officially published! It'll be in the 3rd Annual Wolfwatcher Anthology by Thurston Howl Publications. Stay tuned for a release date - I'm not sure of it yet. #artwork

The rain has arrived! (And it's PG)

'Keep it simple, stupid.' That is the most important thing this picture taught me (or rather, beat into my brain over and over). This picture took AGES, but it was my own fault. Full colour is pretty new to me, and I tend to overdo colour layers, shading layers, etc. It actually looks worse the more you add, in this particular style. And then... you might have to fix that grey fur again. And again. And so, brain mulched by mistakes and eyeballs twitchy from staring at the com

    Art backgrounds (sigh)

Despite the fact that I am fairly pleased with how the background is turning out on Bring the Rain (my current art WIP), it is SUCH slow going. I ask myself, is this worth it? < Some bits and pieces from the background that's taking so long. I do feel that a detailed background adds some serious goodness. I want the finished product to feel like a snapshot, not art. I guess the point of a background is to imply that the character doesn't live only within a piece of art; he or

    The lynx!

So - this is the picture. Well a lot of the art on deviantart and furaffinity is just so good. So good. So I wanted to stretch my artistic wings a little bit. My favourite art is situational - I mean that the picture has some kind of story happening in it. Of course it's the eye of the beholder that determines what the story is. We all interpret things differently. That's why art is so cool - it can mean different things to different people and mean them POTENTLY. And hey. If

    Shoulda killed me yourself

That's what this lynx is thinking. Meet my new work in progress! It'll be desert-y. That's all I'mma say. Also not sure what I plan on naming this lynx. So if you have any suggestions... #lynx #artwork
