This has always been my question when it come to character design. Does something inherently need elements of ugliness to make it look fiercer and meaner? Can it be beautiful AND ferocious?
It's an eternal debate for me.
This is my take on a werewolf - a particular werewolf character from bygone stories I've written and am no longer happy with - but I still like him. I despise hairy-human-bipedal style werewolves. I mean, when you have the possibility of turning some character into what could be a beautiful, powerful creature, why go for the scraggly, drooly style that looks like a bushman with a hair-growth disease?
But I suppose Stephenie Meyer has already made this point.
